Boys Tennis Bring Home a PVL Championship Banner

Boys Tennis for the first time in Pacifica history, will be bringing home a PVL Championship Banner to grace our gym. Our Boys Tennis beat Channel Islands on the 19th of April with a 13-5 victory. Juniors Nate Tagulao (11) and Donny Dong (11) swept in doubles while Teddy Medel (12) and Kaleb McLaren (11) went 2 for 3 in singles. Despite several injuries and illness Teddy Medel (12) , Charles Abuan (12), and Neema Atashbar (12) managed to pull the team together and lead them to victory. When asked how he was feeling during the match Charles responded with “[it was] tiring and competitive [but] lit.” They ended their season play with a 7-1 record and earned the title of PVL Champion.

For the first time in six seasons since 2011, Pacifica’s Boys Tennis beat Rio Mesa. Charles and Neema, Pacifia’s doubles number one, Nate and Donny, Pacifica’s doubles number two will end this season with 23-1 in the PVL, the best doubles record in the league.

When asked about his expectations for this season, Nate replied with “Honestly, coming into the tournament me and Donny’s goal was to reach the semifinals at least, but as a team especially with Charles and Neema our number one’s double team, me and Donny Charles and Neema were both planning to reach the to the final. Sadly, Charles and Neema didn’t make it to the final, but me and Donny were able to do it and once when we got to the final our goal was to just win.”

Good job to our Boys Tennis, Coach Peck and Coach Guzik, and congrats on the first ever PVL championship!
