Iceland and Pineapple on Pizza Don’t Mix

Pineapple Pizza

A debate that has caught the eye of the Internet was the debate on whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza. When you hear the phrase “pineapple on pizza”, people are either shooting hearts out of their eyes, drool coming down their face or sharpening their pitchforks and retching in a bag near by. Not literally, but the topic is very heated. It reached a new high when Iceland’s president, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, declared that if he could, he would ban people from adding pineapple as a pizza topping. During a Q&A at high school in North Iceland, he said he was“fundamentally opposed” to pineapple on pizza and that if could he would outlaw it,

he would. There were mixed reactions, some calling President Jóhannesson a hero, others are saying he’s tearing or should I say slicing Iceland apart with his wrong opinion. I’m not saying if I was a citizen of Iceland I’d vote for President Jóhannesson, but if I was a citizen of Iceland I’d vote for President Jóhannesson.

Canada’s own Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, took the debate to twitter tweeting: “@JonWiseman I have a pineapple. I have a pizza. And I stand behind this delicious Southwestern Ontario creation. #Team Pineapple @Canada”

I personally don’t like pineapple on pizza but each to their own! Don’t get me wrong though! Fruit can go on a pizza and actually taste good but pineapple? I like pineapple in other dishes, but with pizza? I just don’t think it goes well with cheese but the fruit itself is good.
